I found Macrobiotics in the 1970s after several experiences and eating practices and in the context of various philosophical and mystical demands. I was a collaborator of Unimave, a cooperative dedicated to vegetarian Macrobiotics, and also of the Macrobiotic Institute of Portugal (IMP) practically since its foundation. I studied at the Kushi Institute in London in the 1980s. I was a founding partner of Shogun, Produtos Alimentares, Lda. A pioneer in the production of popcorn cookies in Portugal in the 1980s, I produced Tempeh for a while at that time for the macrobiotic / vegetarian community and I was founding partner of the publishing house UME - Um Mundo Ético, in the 2000s. In my life I learned and taught practices related to Macrobiotics and traditions from both the East and the West, Standard Macrobiotic Food, Traditional and Fermented Food Products, Diagnosis Visual, Feng Shui, Shiatsu, Chiromassage, Bodybuilding and Cardiofitness, Biodanza, Systemic Constellations, Astrology, Tarot, Origami, Practical Philosophy, Meditation, for example, and just to name a few. I also learned a very important thing which is to apply Macrobiotics in practice to different and extreme situations / objectives, namely in the three dimensions of Food, Physical Activity and Spirituality. In the Physical Activity dimension, I tried different sports that ended up converging in intense physical exercise, which I practiced and still practice today, having continued to study, observe and experiment with my own practice. In the Spirituality dimension, my spiritual quests started in the 70s, when I got involved in the Hindu / Buddhist mysticism and with the practice of Raja Yoga and meditation that has been maintained in my life. Academically I have a degree and a Master in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in Science and Information Technology. Professionally I am a professor and university researcher.
